Jim joined the Board of Directors in 2001. He has agreed to take over as interim president, taking over from Thomas Weaver who moved away from eastern Massachusetts. Jim has previously served as President for many years but recently has focused on ‘Special Projects’ – special events and other MASSabda programs. He has also served as Treasurer. Jim has now stepped down as our president but is still on the board as an At Large Member.
Jim started his ballroom career at Arthur Murray/Burlington. Jim dances Pro-am American Smooth & Rhythm and amateur competitions. You can find him most weekends at one of the area’s many social dances. Jim says his favorite dance is “whichever one I’m currently dancing”. Jim began retirement but then became a restaurant owner and is the now the proud proprietor of the Thantawan Thai Restaurant in Dracut, MA.
Jim began ballroom dancing to learn a few things so as not to look foolish at clubs and weddings. It did not take long for him to get hooked on all the benefits. MASSabda has become a real labor of love. Jim strives for MASSabda to be the most active chapter of USA Dance and for Massachusetts to become a real ballroom capital.
